Marketing Mercenaries
Marketing strategy, systems + execution
Marketing strategy, systems + execution

Your product is complex. Your story shouldn't be.

Strong technology does not explain itself. We diagnose the real GTM problem, build the strategy, and carry it into the work buyers and sellers actually use. From the first market story to the engine that keeps it moving.

What does Marketing Mercenaries do?

We solve complex marketing and go-to-market problems for security, AI, infrastructure, and technical B2B companies. We build what is missing, repair what is not working, and connect research, positioning, launches, content, and sales execution under one accountable lead.

Bring something new to market.
When you are launching a product or entering a category, establish the positioning, proof, and market story buyers can understand and sales can use.
Make the marketing work.
When the story is not landing or execution has stalled, identify the constraint and fix the positioning, evidence, or process holding the work back.
Keep the engine moving.
When the work outgrows your team’s capacity, add experienced ownership to keep creating, interpreting market intelligence, and improving execution.

Built from scratch. Improved at scale.

I’ve built the foundations, taken over the moving parts, and stayed to make the work better. Here’s what that looked like at AT&T, Kobiton, and authID.

AT&T BusinessCybersecurity + networking

Build the engine, then keep it moving.

Established a net-new cybersecurity content and thought-leadership engine after an 18-month publishing gap. The work now spans portfolio and product pages, launches, category education, field enablement, and AI and quantum thought leadership across cybersecurity, SASE, SD-WAN, SSE, and network intelligence.

The message cards I develop give teams a shared foundation for web, social media, paid search, the AT&T Business Insights blog, and sales enablement.

Build the market story for a technical category.

Created foundational positioning, messaging, technical education, launch support, and sales enablement for zero-trust biometric authentication. The work translated product differentiation into a category story buyers and sellers could use.

Find what’s holding the marketing back.

Sometimes the message needs work. Sometimes the problem is the evidence, the execution, or how decisions get made. I look at those together before recommending what to change.

Buyers understand the product. They still don’t see why to choose it.

I examine what matters to the buyer, how alternatives compare, and what you can substantiate. That tells us whether to sharpen the story, strengthen the proof, or revisit the positioning.

Your team is producing content. Buyers still have unanswered questions.

I look at what buyers need to decide and whether your content helps them get there. The next move might be a missing asset, better distribution, or improving what already exists.

The messaging is agreed. The work still tells different stories.

I trace how the strategy becomes web copy, campaigns, and sales materials, then address where guidance, ownership, or handoffs break down.

How the Mercenaries work

Take the contract.
Kill the problem.
Leave the team stronger.

I do the research, make the strategic calls, and build the work. The same thinking carries through the positioning, the content, the campaigns, and the tools sales uses.

  1. Intelligence

Get inside the product, the market, and the existing work. Understand what buyers need, what the evidence says, and how decisions get made.

  2. Diagnosis

Test the assumptions. Separate the symptom from the cause, identify constraints, and agree on the problem worth solving.

  3. Strategy

Decide who we need to reach, what matters to them, and what we can prove. Jobs to Be Done, Command of the Message, and my Pragmatic training inform the approach.

  4. Build and deploy

Write the messaging. Build the content, launch materials, and sales tools. Keep the story connected as it moves into channels and campaigns.

  5. Improve and hand over

Stay close to market intelligence and performance. Refine the work, fix the process, and leave the team with tools and documentation it can use.

AI-supported workflows

My expertise. More execution capacity.

I lead every engagement, supported by a purpose-built, AI-enabled research and execution system. Specialized agents and structured workflows extend the work I can cover. Strategy, evidence validation, editorial judgment, and final accountability stay with me.

Research

Cover more ground.

Use LLM-assisted research and synthesis to organize market evidence, compare narratives, and surface questions for expert review. Sources are checked, not treated as true because a model returned them.

Production

Move from concept to options.

Generative tools accelerate storyboarding, animation concepts, drafts, and format variations. Faster iteration creates more room to refine the idea before committing production effort.

Continuity

Keep the argument connected.

Reusable briefs, evidence references, and review workflows help preserve context across deliverables. Client-approved tools and data handling are agreed before confidential material is used.

Before we start.

The questions buyers, founders and marketing leaders usually have before starting a conversation.

Ask a different question
What does Marketing Mercenaries do?

We provide marketing strategy and hands-on execution for security, AI, infrastructure, and technical B2B companies. Engagements include paid diagnostics, defined strategic sprints, and embedded leadership. The work connects research, positioning, launches, content, and sales enablement.

Do you handle both 0-to-1 builds and 1-to-10 growth?

Yes. A 0-to-1 engagement builds missing positioning, a category narrative, launch foundations, or a GTM system. A 1-to-10 engagement repairs and scales existing work, strengthens processes, and uses ongoing market intelligence and performance data to guide improvements.

What does a paid GTM Diagnostic include?

The core scope covers one defined GTM problem, a primary audience, one core web journey, an agreed set of existing materials, and a scoped competitive review. You receive a root-cause diagnosis, evidence and constraint map, scorecard, annotated teardown, prioritized action plan, and live readout.

How much does a GTM Diagnostic cost?

Each diagnostic is priced after a complimentary fit and scoping call. The fee and delivery schedule reflect technical complexity, available evidence, stakeholder access, audiences, and business units. Both are agreed before paid work begins.

Does the diagnostic include implementation or customer interviews?

No. New customer research, finished messaging, website copy, campaign creation, and implementation are separately scoped. The diagnostic is useful on its own and does not require a follow-on engagement.

Can you work alongside our existing team or agency?

Yes. Embedded GTM leadership can complement founders, a CMO, product marketing, content, sales, or agency teams. We agree on decision rights, deliverables, collaboration points, and success measures. Fractional product marketing is one way to structure that support.

Do you use AI, and who owns the final work?

Yes. I use AI-assisted research, synthesis, storyboarding, animation concepts, and production workflows where appropriate. I lead the engagement, validate sources and claims, and review final outputs. Client-approved tooling and handling rules are agreed before confidential material is used.

Do you only work with cybersecurity companies?

No. Security is a core specialty, but my experience also spans identity, fraud, mobile testing, networking, AI, and technical infrastructure. Technical complexity and the GTM problem matter more than the category label.

Complimentary fit and scoping call

We will scope the work.

Brittney LawrenceAbout

Brittney Lawrence

Your favorite Marketing Mercenary.

For over 14 years, I have worked across both ends of the growth curve: building positioning, launches, content, and GTM foundations from 0→1, then stepping into established organizations to repair, scale, and operationalize the work from 1→10.

Cybersecurity, identity, fraud, networking, AI, mobile technology, and technical infrastructure. Different categories, one recurring challenge: turn technical complexity into a defensible market story and a system the team can actually use.

I lead every engagement personally. Purpose-built agents and workflows extend my research and production capacity. The judgment and accountability stay with me.
